2019 Freshman Coaching Staff
Jack Negen
Head Coach
Coaching Experience: Coach Negen is entering his 6th year as Head Coach at Armstrong High School. This will be his 25th year of coaching football both at the high school and college level.

Family: Coach Negen is married to his wife Chrissy and they have two daughters Maddie and Kenzie.

College: Graduated and played wide receiver at Bethel University.
Lee Spohn
Quarterbacks / Special Teams Coordinator

Coaching Experience: Coach Potts is entering his 6th year as Offensive Coordinator at Armstrong High School. This will be his 10th year of coaching football at the high school and college level.   

Family: Coach Potts is married to his wife Angie and they have two daughters Lila and Avery.

College: Graduated and played running back at Augsburg University.
Konnor Goettsche
Ryan Korolewski
Wide Receivers
Coaching Experience: Coach Goettsche is entering his 1st year of coaching Wide Receivers at Armstrong High School where he also works in the special education department. He is a 2013 graduate of Armstrong where he played both football and basketball.

College: Played college basketball at NDSCS and Dickinson State and graduated from Dickinson State.
Offensive Line
Coaching Experience: Coach Korolewski is entering his 2nd year coaching at Armstrong High School and will coach the Offensive Line. He came to Armstrong after winning a state championship at Elk River. This will be his 13th year of coaching football.

Family: Coach Korolewski is married to his wife Jen and they have two daughters Noela and Hanna.

College: Graduated and played tight end/offensive line at Northwestern.
Adam Hollerud
Offensive Line
Coaching Experience: Coach Hollerud is entering his 1st season of coaching the offensive line at Armstrong High School and his 10th year of coaching football. Adam is currently in his 2nd year as special education teacher at Armstrong. 

Family: Coach Hollerud is married to his wife Amy.

College: Graduated and played offensive line at the University of Minnesota-Duluth

Defensive Backs
Coaching Experience: Coach Lloyd is entering his 8th year of coaching at Armstrong High School and will serve as Co-Defensive Coordinator while also working with the safeties. He served as the defensive coordinator for the 10th grade program the previous seven years .

Family: Coach Lloyd is married to his wife Teresa and has two children, Thomas and Kaitlynn.

College: Graduated from University of Minnesota-Morris where he was on the varsity golf team.

Defensive Backs
Coaching Experience: Coach Bess is entering his 8th year as Defensive Back coach at Armstrong High School. This will be his 28th year of coaching high school football.

Family: Coach Bess is married to his wife Tina and they have a daughter Brittany and a grandson Kingston.

College: Graduated and played defensive back at South Carolina State University. He was an All- Conference and Black College All-American football player

Coaching Experience: Coach Adair is beginning his 8th year as Defensive Line Coach at Armstrong. This will be his 14th year of coaching high school football.

Family: Coach Adair is married to his wife Tanya and they have two daughters Addyson and Avery and one son Trent.

Coaching Experience: Coach Sommers is entering his 6th year as the Freshman head coach at Armstrong High School. This will be his 10th year coaching football.

Family: Coach Sommers is married to his wife Amy and they have one daughter, Eleanor.

College: Graduated from the University of Minnesota.
Kelly Jans
Offensive / Defensive Line
Coaching Experience: Coach Jans is entering his 26th year as a football coach at Armstrong High School. He started as an assistant for the Freshman team and then held the job of Freshman head coach for 12 years. Over the last five years, he has worked as an assistant for the Sophomore team.

Family: Coach Jans is married to his wife Karen and they have four children: Lynsey, Espen, Hunter, and Anders.

College: Graduated from St. Cloud State University.
Thomas Barber

Coaching Experience: Coach Barber is entering his first year as a football coach at Armstrong High School.

College: Graduated and played linebacker at University of Minnesota.
Marion Barber
Running Backs / Linebackers
Coaching Experience: Coach Barber is entering his 4th year as a football coach at Armstrong. This will be his 26h year coaching at the high school and youth level.

Family: Coach Barber is married to his wife Karen and they have three sons, Marion III, Dominique and Thomas (Armstrong Alum) along with three grandchildren, Titus, Myliya and Tatum.

College: Graduated and played running back at University of Minnesota.
John Davis
Assistant Coach
Coaching Experience: Coach Davis is entering his 4th year as the Freshman wide receivers coach at Armstrong High School. This will be his 8th year coaching football.

Family: Coach Davis is married to his wife Randi and they have four sons Zachary, John Paul, Jalen and Isaiah and two daughters Safeara and Kyranai.

College: Played defensive back and special teams return specialist for Si Tanka University. He was an All-American defensive back.
